Waitewaewae Night Walk

Dark across the Western Tararau's with rain forecast so looking like a night I once experienced before; where lightening occurred while walking across the Plateau before dropping down to Waitewaewae hut.

Left the car park at five thirty heading for YTYY. Some of the slip away is quite interesting.
First big slip on way to YTYY
On the new 2nd slip avoidance track took a shot of the two trees.
2 trees
The weather never developed the entire way, got to the hut at nine thirty in the dark where I may have disturbed the people already there.

Next Day (18/10/2015)
Monkey business in the bush with the monkey feet. Was interesting to watch these feet head out to Otaki Forks.
Monkey Feet in the bush
Shoes, and creeks too high. This is twice the volume of water I have ever experienced before. The side creeks where difficult to cross. Walking up stream and uses natural log bridges was the only way.

Most water in the river so far
